For all new connections to Orion's electricity network, disconnections and alterations.
Due to the high volume of connection requests we are currently processing, please expect a delay of up to 30 business days to process your request.
To complete your request online, you will need the following information:
Contact details including an email address.
Your electrician's contact details.
The address of the property that requires the connection.
The name of your electricity retailer.
Your retailer customer number.Your retailer customer number is the number that appears on your invoice.
For new connections you will also need:
Number of phases you require (one, two or three).If you are not sure about your electrical requirements, please consult your electrician.
Capacity* needed at the site (eg 63 amps or more).
Connection use (eg residential, irrigation etc).
*Note: Standard capacity for residential connections is 63 amps (15kVA).

You can apply for multiple units/apartments on one application as long as they are all on the same site.
How much will it cost?
For most urban* residential new connections, Orion typically charges:
nothing for a new connection in a large subdivision, as normally the subdivision will have the necessary infrastructure in place
$620 plus GST for single phase, or $1,030 plus GST for three phase, for each new connection not within a new subdivision.
* urban classification is defined by your local district or city council.
